1500 Words critical analysis of academic piece

First, choose ONE of the following academic pieces:
1. Mearsheimar, John. 2001. The Tragedy of Great Power Politics. New York: Norton. 29-54
2. Keohane, R. 1984. Cooperation and International Regimes in After Hegemony: Cooperation and Discord in the World Political Economy. Princeton.
3. Wendt, Alexander. Anarchy is what states make of it: the social construction of power politics. International Organization. 46:391-425.
4. Barkawi, Tarak and Mark Laffey. 2006. The Postcolonial Moment in Security Studies. Review of International Studies. 32,2: 329-352.

Then, write a 1500 word critical analysis of the piece. To do this you will need to:
– establish the research context;
– briefly summarise the argument;
– critique the core argument.

Objectives:
1. That the student should demonstrate a comprehensive review of the relevant literature.
2. That the students should demonstrate an acquaintance with the arguments relevant to their chosen topic.
3. That the students should show an understanding of the relevant concepts

Assessment criteria:
1. Understanding of theory in IR.
2. Ability to synthesize a piece of academic research
3. Ability to critique a piece of academic research
4. The clarity of the writing (style).
