Explain what role does this media form play in your life? What does this media form mean to you? Why is it important and/or interesting?

This assessment has three main parts:1. a description of your personal experience of media;2. an explanation of a concept discussed in class; and3. a reflection of how that concept connects to your experience.1. Students are asked to build a detailed reflection of the role of media in their lives by focusing on their use of one media form. A media form could include any kind of medium (e.g. computer, smart phone, social media network, television, film, book etc.) OR any kind of media content (e.g. any content from television, film, books, political campaigns, newspapers, Instagram, YouTube etc.) OR production (e.g. BBC, NewsCorp, Facebook, Netflix etc.). What role does this media form play in your life? What does this media form mean to you? Why is it important and/or interesting?2. Students are asked to identify and explain a key concept from class. A concept is one of the ideas used to make sense of or to frame a phenomenon. For example, some of the key concepts discussed in class include: components of media, convergence culture, participatory culture, history film censorship, creativity, creative industries, photojournalism, fourth estate, gender norms, politics, etc.3. Students are asked to apply their selected concept to their experience and reflect on how the two are related. Consider some of the following: What relevance does the concept have to your experience? Does the concept provide any insights? Is the concept meaningful or meaningless based on your experience? Why? Explain.Students must use at least two academic sources using the Harvard referencing system in their work. Sources can be used in many ways. For example, sources could be used to help explain a concept more fully or they could be used to provide evidence of how your experience relates more broadly. Sources could also be used to help explain or understand how your experience is meaningfully related to the concept you have chosen.
