In industry, some materials such as bottles, gas tanks etc. are winded by fiber to make them strong and stiff. The main purpose of this machine is to wind the fiber on the tanks automatically. This machine includes six small spools and a big spool. Fiber winder machine is designed to provide fiber to the big spool from small spools. In addition, the machine is expected to cut the fiber coming from an exhausted spool and exhausted spool can be switched to a new spool by the help of the operator. End of the fiber is tied to the one coming from the new spool with a knot. Moreover, operation cannot be interrupted. The machine is expected to allow the operator easily access the machine and replace the exhausted spool while the system is still running. The machine should wind the fiber on the big spool with a constant speed as 1m/s. In addition, fiber should be distributed on the big spool. Furthermore, the fiber winder machine should be fast, user friendly and economic.The steps that are followed in design process is as follows: Firstly, a comprehensive survey on existing products, previous studies and designs, state-of-the-art and patents that will guide in the design process is done. Secondly, organization of the project is done. Task determination and timeline preparation is done in this part. Thirdly, the conceptual design regarding the sub-functions of the project are to be created, improved and determined. Brainstorming is the most important part of the conceptual design. Morphological chart is obtained and Pugh’s concept selection method is used to determine the best concept. Then, in embodiment design part product architecture, configuration design, parametric design and detail design is done. The detail design is comprised of preparation of the detailed technical drawings, bill of the materials and deciding on the manufacturing operations. Also analysis of the concept is obtained in this part. Next is manufacturing step. In this step materials are purchased, parts are manufactured and quality control of the parts that are manufactured is done. Final step is assembly.
