Relational project delivery arrangements (RPDAs) integrate involved parties and are widely proposed as a solution to fragmentation in the construction process, as well as to the resulting adversarial relationships between the parties inherent in traditional contracting for infrastructure projects. RPDAs thus seek to create added value for customers and other parties in a project.
Owing to frustration with the opportunism inherent in traditional contracting, RPDAs have recently been the subject of many development efforts in infrastructure projects. Three comprehensive approaches are: project alliancing (PA), project partnering (PP) and integrated project delivery (IPD).
