Assessment. ?Each student will be required to write a single essay. The essay should be up to a maximum of 5,000 words in length?. The essay should demonstrate the students ability to carry out effective research, their analytical skills, and their ability to present an informed and wellwrittenargument.

The essay should be designed to explore the utility of particular theoretical accounts of conflicts in the light of available, reliable evidence. The essay can address a recent (postCold War) or protracted conflict and seek to explain the dominant characteristics of the conflict drawing upon the theories of conflict explored in the module. It can alternatively adopt a thematic entry and
usecomparisontoassessrelevantexplanatorymodels.
