Studies in Disaster Preparedness

The syllabus specifies that you \”select a man-made or natural disaster NOT already discussed in this course.\” For planning purposes, the disasters discussed in this course include:

The SL-1 and Chernobyl nuclear accidents;
The 1989 Loma Prieta, California, and 2011 Mineral, Virginia, earthquakes;
The 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the 1994 Oklahoma City bombing;
Hurricane Katrina;
The Greenburg, Kansas, and Joplin, Missouri, tornados;
The 1984 Union Carbide disaster in Bhopal, India;
The 2008 Imperial Sugar explosion in Georgia;
And the 2005 Texas City Refinery explosion.

You should select a disaster other than these for evaluation in your paper. PLEASE: DO NOT select the terrorist attacks of 9-11. You cannot possibly conduct an analysis of that man-made disaster in the length limitations proposed in the syllabus for your paper.

Please select a man-made or natural disaster not listed above that happened here in the United States. This choice is totally yours.

Although not specified in the syllabus, I\’d appreciate it if you only put your name on the cover page. Do not use your name in the paper itself, or as a \”running header\”.

Please include four (4) different references!

Use the APA format style.
